Parish Hall

The Hall and its Use

There is a large main hall, big enough to seat 100 in ‘theatre style’, and there are two meeting rooms – the Romero and the Elgar. The Elgar Room is ideal for meetings of up to 30 and one wall is a folding partition which can be opened out to make this room an extension of the main hall. The Romero Room is suitable for meetings of up to 15. There is a large, well-equipped kitchen and toilets facilities include those for disabled access.

The hall is suitable for toddler groups, committee meetings, social functions, concerts, lectures, keep-fit sessions and gatherings after christenings, weddings, funerals and other church services. Refreshments are available in the hall after the 8.30 am and 10.30 am Masses every Sunday.

History

The closure of the Sacred Heart College, its demolition and the development of a portion of the site for housing, resulted in the loss of the rooms previously used by the Parish for meetings, gatherings after Mass and social functions.

Part of the open site area was left available for Parish use and so it was decided to build a presbytery for the Parish Priest and his visitors, and a parish hall. Building work started on 1st June 1999 and the hall was opened for use in March 2000. An official opening ceremony was held on 9th May 2000.

Parish Hall Committee

The hall is run by the Parish Hall Committee who are responsible for the day-to-day management of the hall including lettings, furniture, equipment, cleaning and security. See the Parish Committees page for more information.
