Justice and Peace Group

The group aims to pursue the causes of Justice and Peace on behalf of the Parish at local, national and international levels.

Our regular activity is the running of the Parish Traidcraft Stall on Sundays.

Routine commitments in the year now include a scheme of Christmas Greetings to Prisoners, Stations of the Cross in Lent, attendance at the diocesan Justice and Peace Conference in October, and maintaining the Parish Caring for Creation commitment.

We take up lobbying issues as they arise, for instance:  G8 meetings, fair-trade, human rights abuses, climate change conferences and always seek to involve parishioners.

With the publication of Pope Francis' encyclical Evangeli Gaudium (Joy of the Gospel) our group is attempting to promote its contents by printing excerpts every week on the back page of the Parish Newsletter.

We meet once a month, normally on first Wednesdays, in the parish Hall, and always welcome new people and new ideas.
